In his photographic work THE TWO DEGREES CELSIUS SERIES, Hegen observes the melting of arctic ice sheets such as the Greenland ice sheet. Taking the goal of the 2015 Paris Agreement to limit global temperature rise to two degrees above pre-industrial levels as a point of reference, the artist focuses on the drastic effects that global warming has on the arctic ice due to the Arctic’s high vulnerability to a warming climate. >>
