In Grade’s installation MURMUR, a kinetic sculpture and a mixed-reality device enable the visitor to imagine an arctic landscape. The sculpture’s form relates to arctic forms called pingos that characteristically shape the permafrost soil, which Grade combines with elements inspired by the murmurations of arctic birds. Due to the permafrost soil being endangered by global warming, the installation also encourages awareness of the impacts of climate change. >>
