With the video installation TO SEE THE FOREST STANDING, Alves documents 34 indigenous environmental activists who were sent by their communities to take part in a workshop concerning agroforestry. The workshop was held at the Centro de Formação dos Povos da Floresta in Rio Branco, a place for experimentation as well as the exchange of ideas and techniques for more efficient agro-forestry methods on indigenous lands, some of which have been severely deforested by non-indigenous settlers, ranchers, gold miners and loggers. >>
